His parents were Walter and Lillie (Ohlson) Teichelman, who preceded him in death. He attended Tyler Country School and graduated from Taylor High School in 1944. He was married on August 6th, 1947, to Evangeline Lillian Holmstrom. They were married until her death in April 2007. Emery enjoyed sports and traveling all his life. He fondly remembered his high school football playing days, often telling us about Coach T.H. Johnson, his teammates and their success on the football field. He played fast-pitch softball for years and in 1998 was inducted into the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Hall of Fame. Emery traveled all over the world, always eager to see and learn about new places. A special highlight for him was traveling to Australia and New Zealand where he first met and visited Teichelman relatives. He had friends from many different states and countries that he met on his travels.

Emery was preceded in death by his wife Evangeline, sister Viola Moehnke and husband Andrew, brother-in-law Marvin Decker and nephew Stan Holmstrom. He is survived by his daughter Kaye Schaefer and husband Calvin, son Alan Teichelman and wife Mandy, sister Lorene Decker, brother Roland Teichelman and wife Evelyn, In-laws T.W. and Lillian Holmstrom and Raymond and Pat Holmstrom.
