WILLMAR - Robert Langdon Gustafson, 95, of Willmar, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital. His funeral service will be at 11 am, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at First Covenant Church, in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #167. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Robert was born on November 18, 1918 in Minneapolis, the son of John and Martina (Lidholm) Gustafson. He graduated from North High School in 1936. His four years in military service was in the U.S Medical Corp and the U.S Air Force. He married Minnie Carlson on December 19, 1942 and their son, Dwane, was born in 1946.

Robert graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry in 1949. He practiced in Minneapolis, Anoka and in 1952 moved to Willmar where he practiced for 33 years. His son, Dr. Dwane, joined the practice in 1969 and has expanded the office several times.

Robert was active in the Lions and Gideons and was a member of First Covenant Church, where he held various offices and taught Sunday school.

In 1985, Dr. Bob retired and he and Minnie moved to Winter Haven, Florida. Minnie died in 1992 and two years later he met and married Geraldine. He and Geraldine enjoyed volunteering and traveling together. They moved back to Willmar in 2005, living at Westview Village. Geraldine passed away in May of 2011.

Robert is survived by his son, Dwane (Cheri) Gustafson of Willmar, grandsons: Mike (Tanya) Gustafson of Willmar and Matt (Fianc, Amanda) Gustafson of Brooklyn Park; granddaughter: Jenny (Troy) Raitz of Willmar, and 8 great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Isabelle, Levi, Olivia, and Ava Gustafson and Sadie, Sam and Jonah Raitz.

He was preceded in death by his two wives, parents, a brother and sister.
