Daniel Henry Miller, resident of Shorehaven Retirement Community in Oconomowoc, joined his Lord on Nov. 25, 2016, after a short illness.

Dan was born in Milwaukee to Albert T. and Erna E. Miller on Dec. 17, 1934. Dan was an avid musician who started playing clarinet in grade school and continued to perform throughout his long life. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he played in the concert and marching bands. The notes of his clarinet could be heard wherever he called home, including Madison, Wauwatosa, Random Lake, West Bend and the north woods. While he loved all types of music, he particularly enjoyed performing in his lederhosen with the Bavarians, a local German band in northern Wisconsin.

Dan is survived by his wife, Suzanne; children, Sharon Smith (Neal), James and Laura Curry; stepsons, Peter (Beth) and Charles Chladil (Jennifer); grandkids, Eric, Matthew, Jennifer and Emily; brother, David (Marion); sister-in-law, Marianne; and beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents’ brother, Gerald, and son-in-law, James Curry.

In honor of Dan’s love of music and support of higher education, any donations received will be used for the UW Marching Band’s “Adopt a Band Member” program.
