Melanie Sanderson f. Smith 1955–2014

Melanie Smith Sanderson LUBBOCK - Melanie Smith Sanderson, 58, of Lubbock passed away on February 2, 2014 after a month-long battle against the H1N1 Flu Virus. The family will receive friends for a visitation to share and remember memories of Melanie this evening, February 4, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Monterey Church of Christ with Lonnie Hamil and Barry Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Melanie was born on Feb. 17, 1955 in Wichita Falls, TX to Billy and Minalee Smith. She graduated from Permian High school in 1973, where she was the President of The Pepettes. She received her degree in education from Texas Tech in 1979. She married Brian Sanderson from Springlake, TX on June 9, 1978. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nana, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had a warm smile and a big heart. Her sweet spirit will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Brian Sanderson; her daughters, Emily DiDonna and Heather Sanderson; son, Matthew Sanderson; granddaughter, Valerie Sanderson; mother, Minalee Smith; brother, David Smith and wife, Karen; and a host of friends and family.
