Arthur W Ahlman 1906–1998

Memorial funeral services for Arthur W. Ahlman, 92, of Dundee Township, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church, 240 Standish St., Elgin.

Born Feb. 19, 1906, in Kewanee, Ill., the son of John and Marie (Ringstrom) Ahlman, he died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. Private family interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Chicago.

He was a professional violinist and violist. Mr. Ahlman was a staff musician with WBBM Radio and Television of Chicago for 25 years. He completedhis musical career with the Chicago Lyric Opera and numerous Chicago Theater orchestras. He performed at the Schubert, McCormick, Selwyn and McVicker Theaters. He was a member of the Musicians Union Local #10 for 75 years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Anderson) Ahlman; sons, Ronald (Arlene) of Dundee Township and Richard (Sharon) of Rochester, N.Y.; grandchildren, Dawn (Keith) Brill, Christine (Ross) Robinson, Valerie (Robert) Dunham,Scott (Angelica) Ahlman, Dr. Diane (Dr. George Smith) Ahlman and John (Sue) Ahlman; and 16 great-grandchildren.
