MARBLEHEAD Mrs. Wardine M. (Geissler) Hokanson, 86, of Marblehead, died on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 in Mass. General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Harold T. Hokanson.
Born in Odessa, Wash., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lena (Miller)Geissler. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education at Washington State University.
She and her husband were active members of the Boston Yacht Club. An active volunteer with club activities, she served on the Marblehead to Halifax Race Committee, the Boutique Committee, volunteered time on the office as well as with the publication of the Binnacle monthly newsletter. For more than 20 years she was an active local Marblehead Red Cross blood drive volunteer. She was also active with the Marblehead Senior Center.
Mrs. Hokanson leaves a son, Dean Hokanson, Ph.D. of Wethersfied, Conn.; a daughter, Gail Allyn, Esquire of Morristown, N.J.; two brothers, Wayne Geissler and Echo Geissler, both of Davenport, Wash.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Clifton Lutheran Church, Humphrey Street, Marblehead. Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Arrangements by Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem.
